This is not just a port of previous versions, but updated with new artwork and English translation as well. This release through publisher MangaGamer will be the first one in Western markets that’s completely uncut. It will also include the entire soundtrack of the original game.
Umineko: When They Cry first came out back in 2007 as the third game in the When They Cry series. Its original Japanese version, also published by 07th Expansion, sold out within half an hour of its release.
In the game, it’s October 4, 1986. Battler Ushiromiya is looking into a series of murders that occurred during the Ushiromiya family’s annual conference on the island of Rokkenjima. Not only is it far from the rest of civilization in a mansion full of rich folk under threat of a serial murderer, but there are also many other mysteries that need to be unraveled as well.
For those who are into untangling interweaving mysteries and dealing with a bunch of suspicious characters, this game could be what you’re looking for.
Umineko: When They Cry (Question Arc) will be out on July 8 for PC through Steam. It will also be available for sale on the MangaGamer website.
