Tom Clancy’s The Division was released this past March for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The third person shooter tells the story of New York City in the aftermath of a smallpox pandemic. Players take on the role of an agent helping the remaining populace get back to normalcy and safety.

The title was very well-received by both fans and critics alike. To date it has sold more units in its 24 hours of release than any other title in the publisher’s history.

Ubisoft’s announcement went on to highlight that the film will be created as a collaboration between the stars’ respective film studios. Matt Phelps, the Vice President of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, added:

Working with Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories and Chastain’s Freckle Films has been notated to be an effort to elevate the film’s quality. This is an active effort to change the opinion on video game movies. With this in mind, this December, Ubisoft Motion’s production line will release the Assassin’s Creed film.

Fans of Gyllenhaal, Chastain, and The Division can expect more updates in the future.
