His simple kit and proactive gameplay were perfect for teaching dozens of players the exact location of the mini-map, while the rest of us are still on the search. And since you’ll be playing countless hours of Twisted Fate to unlock this hidden feature, you might as well dress him up. So let’s rank all of TF’s skins and determine which truly stand out the most.
14. The Magnificent Twisted Fate
Released: May 17th, 2010 Price: 1820 RP This skin is the equivalent of a Supreme brick – it’s no better than the standard thing, and only showcases how much money you’re willing to burn. Sure, eleven years ago this skin was actually quite ground-breaking. It completely changed the character model then. But these days, even a chroma will lend you a bigger change than this. It basically just changes his cloak a bit. No new animations, voice filters, voice lines, nothing else. Even the splash art is nothing special here. And even if this were a 520 RP skin, it would still be near the bottom of this ranking. So the fact that it’ll cost you an arm and a leg is just a death sentence.
13. PAX Twisted Fate
Released: September 3rd, 2009 Price: PAX Reward Okay, this is a weird one to rank. Basically, it was given out to people who attended PAX in 2009 and hasn’t been available since. It’s one of the rarest skins in the game, and owning it’s a way bigger flex than whatever The Magnificent Twisted Fate was trying to pull. Granted, the skin itself is a simple character model recolor. But it honestly looks pretty sick. The blue, black, and white color scheme works really well – and the PAX logo on the coat makes it feel that much more unique. But since you’d have you sell your soul and break a few laws in order to get it, I can’t really put it any higher, regardless of how cool it would be to own it.
12. Cutpurse Twisted Fate
Released: July 21st, 2015 Price: 750 RP Okay, I’ll get the positives out first and then go on a little rant. This skin features a rather substantial character model redesign, as well as a new card design for his W. The new card design is honestly pretty well-made, and the character model is just cool too. The open coat, the mismatched bandit outfit, the new hairstyle, it all works very well. However, this skin got rid of his hat. Not only is TF’s hat kind of iconic, but his emotes just look stupid now. My dude is just pulling cards out of his skull and it looks weird as hell. I know that’s a rather minor nitpick, but I hate it – so minus 100 ranking points or whatever we’re using here…
11. Red Card Twisted Fate
Released: June 18th, 2014 Price: 750 RP This could be pretty funny if you’re really into themed skins, or like to roleplay extremely aggressive referees. But it just gets a “meh” overall. Red Card Twisted Fate is a simple character model redesign. And all it really does is get rid of the cape, and stuff you into a yellow stripped shirt, some shorts, and knee-high socks. There are no new animations, and the skin definitely feels a bit off in-game too, since you literally look like some random dude who stumbled onto the Rift. So unless you want it for the roleplay, I would suggest you look elsewhere.
10. Tango Twisted Fate
Released: October 5th, 2010 Price: 520 RP Everything I said about the previous skin more or less applies to this one as well. However, this time it isn’t really about roleplaying, as much as it is forcing your girlfriend to play Evelyn so you can break the League player stereotype. In-game, this skin looks a bit better than Red Card Twisted Fate. At least you get a pretty pimped out suit and a complementary rose. But it still feels out of place next to planet-eating giants and universe dragons.
9. Musketeer Twisted Fate
Released: November 21st, 2011 Price: 750 RP Winning with this skin honestly feels like that moment in every YA book or movie when the nerd beats up the jock. The getup just makes Twisted Fate feel like a theatre kid that went all out. The puffy sleeves, the feather sticking out of the hat, his little neck tissue holder, it all makes sense. Granted the skin doesn’t offer any new animations – but then again, it isn’t all that expensive either. I can’t say that it’s the best budget skin. But it is definitely fun to put this on every once in a while.
8. Jack of Hearts Twisted Fate
Released: February 10th, 2010 Price: 520 RP This skin, on the other hand, is a really good pick if you want to pay the absolute minimum. It doesn’t feature any new animations, but both the splash art and the in-game model are really decent and worth looking into. The red and silver color scheme just works well on Twisted Fate – it makes him look quite menacing, really. Even the name has a nice, threatening ring to it. As if he was part of some legendary troupe or something. Very solid skin overall, and it’s the final simple redesign/recolor skin we’ll see for the rest of this list.
7. Blood Moon Twisted Fate
Released: February 9th, 2017 Price: 1350 RP For the most part, I love Blood Moon Twisted Fate. The character model redesign looks absolutely epic with that signature Blood Moon outfit, and a mask that makes him look like an elite assassin. The animations are also all brand new and shiny, with each ability getting quite the new look. The Q now features blood-red cards, the W incorporates very rune-esque designs for the cards, the E seems like raw energy, and the ult is just a superior version of the base animation. Like seriously, why does the base skin still have the all-seeing olive? His backing animation is really cool too – but summoning a portal does feel a bit redundant. And the only real flaw to this skin is the same one that got Cutpurse Twisted Fate: the lack of hat. I get that the hood is way more in-line with the aesthetic, but pulling cards out of your scalp looks stupid.
6. Underworld Twisted Fate
Released: October 26th, 2012 Price: 975 RP Now this skin rightfully pushes TF towards the “badass” category where he belongs. The cowboy hat, the aethereal hand, the sweet shoulder pieces, the purple cape, everything you would want from a ghostly western badboy. The skin does feature some new animations too, but it’s nothing to write home about. Just some recolors here and there to make the skin feel spookier. It’s definitely on the budget side of things as well – but still offers more than enough to be worth considering. It also feels really nice if you go AD, as the glowing hand is a great indication for your auto attacks.
5. Odyssey Twisted Fate
Released: October 15th, 2020 Price: 1350 RP Damn, who knew that the futuristic theme would look so good on Twisted Fate? This skin honestly has everything you could want from a Twisted Fate skin: It makes you a space cowboy with a slick character model design, and some really unique animations. I mean, the character model is stunning, with his outfit being a mix of the classic western look and high-tech armor, with a mask that only comes off during the recall animation to really seal the deal. The card design for his W looks like it came straight out of Halo. And his Q and E aren’t too far behind either. And his ult just has that “beam me up Scotty” energy that we were all missing in our lives. Overall, an excellent skin that honestly could have taken the first place spot if someone else was ranking this in my shoes.
4. Pulsefire Twisted Fate
Released: May 17th, 2018 Price: 1350 RP It was honestly really difficult to choose between Puslefire and Odyssey, as they both did such an amazing job at tackling the futuristic theme. However, this skin’s use of holograms just barely pushed it over the line for me. Your ult has a really neat animation where it looks like you were a hologram the entire time, and your backing animation has you using holograms to escape. Plus the particles on your E proc disappear as if they were never real to begin with. Even your ult goes along those same lines! I also have to mention the W, as it literally looks like you’re picking an app and not a card, which is something that I really enjoyed. Even though I spent all of this time gushing about the animations, the base model is far from bad too! You look like an alternative Tony Stark, with your high-tech suit and Playboy demeanor.
3. High Noon Twisted Fate
Released: May 17th, 2011 Price: 975 RP It might seem weird that I’m putting this skin above the absolute powerhouses of Pulsefire and Odyssey, but hear me out. Lots of Twisted Fate mains have flocked to this skin, as it thematically just makes the most sense, and visually it’s just a better base skin model. It does have a new animation for the Q but that’s hardly the reason people love it so much. You see that splash art and you just feel like a badass cowboy who’s ready to set down the law. And even with the base animations, that feeling doesn’t go away. Plus, this skin offers quite the badass look for only 975 RP – which is a big deal around these parts.
2. DWG Twisted Fate
Released: April 29th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP I hate to admit it, but when it comes to old champions, newer skins just have a leg up by default. DWG Twisted Fate is just so polished that it makes the base skin look like a sack of potatoes. It also makes you feel dripped out, with your fancy blue clothes and armor. And that’s not even mentioning the backing animation, which is just a victory lap. The animations are also extremely clean with some rather big quality of life features, like the W selection showing up under your feet, as well as overhead. The ult is also rather slick, as the eye looks like it came straight out of Egypt or something. It might not be as thematically fun as High Noon Twisted Fate – but it just offers so many nice features that it’s hard to pass up.
1. Crime City Nightmare Twisted Fate
Released: August 26th, 2021 Price: 1350 RP So, am I just a little edgelord who likes this skin because it makes Twisted Fate look powerful and evil? Absolutely. The base model alone would be worth 1350 RP in my eyes. It’s the most unique and polished skin you can get on the champion. The Kill la Kill vibe from the shoulder pad, the color scheme, the mask, it all just screams “evil” and I love it. You also get a nice voice filter, your backing animation has you signing your soul off to the devil, your ability animations have some black and purple particles to further sell the theme, and your ult just makes you think of Berserk, which is the ultimate compliment. Even if it was priced as a legendary skin, it would still be on top. Note: this content was created under Riot Games’ “Legal Jibber Jabber” policy using assets owned by Riot Games.
